Most Challenging Vision System Project

In-Case Cap Detection System: “Our team created an overhead camera system to detect cocked and cross-threaded bottle caps while in their case. The tightly packed bottles were stacked four, six or eight to a case and needed a vision sensor to trigger the camera. We solved the problem using precision alignment and laser illumination. In the end, the system checked for cross-threaded and tilted caps off by as little as 2mm.”

Professional Motivation:

Dan works best solving difficult imaging and controls concepts with simple designs that are easy to maintain.

“I want to design new systems to be simple and maintenance free. This means making the software smart enough so the plant’s personnel can easily maintain and manage the system.”

About Me:

Dan is a valuable asset to EPIC. He won the EPIC Way Award in 2009, an award given to those employees who exemplify outstanding performance. The previous year he was awarded the Anheuser Busch Training Excellence Award. Dan brings to the workplace a vast amount of real world manufacturing experience. Outside of work, Dan likes to spend time with his wife and three young children. In his spare time, he likes to exercise, is involved in his local church, and enjoys archery league with his friends. If there is any time left, he might be found in some garage working on a project.
